Mental Health First Aid Course

Mental Health First Aid

Mental health illness is on the rise, with 1 in 5 Australians experiencing a mental illness every year. Yet many people are not confident or knowledgeable to be able to offer assistance. 

Mental Health First Aid empowers you to be able to help someone who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received, or the crisis is resolved.

This 2-day training course breaks down the stigma of mental health. Throughout the training you will learn mental health first aid strategies and the skills to help someone you are concerned about.

At the end of the 2 days training, you are required to complete a short online quiz where you will apply the knowledge learnt. Upon successful completion of the quiz, you will be accredited as a Mental Health First Aider and will receive a certificate of completion.

The first step to wellness is knowledge. Book into this course now and gain the skills to be able to help someone when needed. Courses are available for workplaces, or groups of people upon request. Individual bookings are available pending course availability.

Course Information

After you have completed the course you will be able to

  • recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health problems and learn the skills to feel confident and able to help
  • Assist those who are developing a mental health problem
  • Assist those who are experiencing a mental health crisis
  • provide support and guidance in a safe environment
  • comfortably have a conversation about mental health problems
  • have knowledge of professional and other supports
  • break down the stigma around mental health in your community and workplace

DAY 1

You will learn about different signs and symptoms of a variety of mental health problems including depression, anxiety and suicide and learn how to have difficult conversations that can save lives.

DAY 2

You will expand your knowledge on mental health problems including psychosis, drug and alcohol abuse.  In addition, you will learn how to implement the AGLEE action plan to assist people to get professional help.
